La Petite Maison du Lac doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It’s a compact apartment — and it uses that scale to its advantage.

The living room and kitchen face the lake directly, with Monte Isola right in front of you. Light comes in from both directions. The double bedroom is quiet and well-appointed. A sofa bed in the living room allows the apartment to sleep up to four guests. The bathroom has a full shower and bidet. The kitchen is fully equipped — dishwasher, washing machine, oven, coffee machine, wine opener — everything you need to cook properly is already there.

The apartment is tastefully furnished, clean and modern throughout. Guests from over a dozen countries have stayed here — and the one word that appears in review after review, in Italian, German, Polish, Czech and Dutch, is the same: the view.

The building’s rooftop hosts a shared panoramic pool, open from late spring through September. From the pool terrace, the view across Lake Iseo and Monte Isola is completely clear – one of the most complete lake panoramas you’ll find from any residential building on the western shore.

Sun loungers are available on the poolside lawn. The pool is shared with the entire residence and follows the condominium’s regulations and seasonal opening calendar.

The apartment itself has two private outdoor spaces: a lake-facing terrace for morning coffee and breakfast, and a second private balcony off the bedroom. Both face the lake. The terrace receives morning sun — in the afternoon the building provides shade, which in summer makes it a cool retreat rather than a problem.

🚗 The access road The final stretch of road to the apartment is steep — a narrow winding lane that requires care and, in the words of several guests, a degree of commitment. Multiple guests mention it. Once you arrive, there’s a private garage included in the stay. In daylight, with expectations set, it’s fine. At night for the first time, it’s worth going slowly. A car is essential — this is not a property you can navigate without one.

🌡️ No air conditioning The apartment does not have A/C. At altitude above Tavernola, evenings are naturally cooler than at lake level — most guests report this is sufficient through spring and autumn. In peak summer (July–August), particularly for guests sensitive to heat, this is worth factoring in. Erika, who stayed in August, noted: “beautifully clean and quiet — very cool in the evenings even without air conditioning.”

Tavernola Bergamasca sits on the western shore of Lake Iseo, in the province of Bergamo — directly facing Monte Isola, the largest car-free lake island in Europe. The village is quiet, residential and largely off the tourist circuit. The apartment is elevated above the village, with a clear panoramic view across the full width of the lake.

Lake Iseo is one of the least crowded of the Italian lakes. Less visited than Garda and Como, more local, more authentic — and increasingly sought after by guests who have already done the obvious destinations and want something different.

A car is essential. There are no restaurants, supermarkets or services within easy walking distance of the apartment. Tavernola is positioned for those who want elevated calm and access to everything by car within 30 minutes. The lakeshore is 10 minutes downhill on foot — which in practice means most guests drive.
